How to Replace the Fur Ruff on a Canada Goose Parka

Canada Goose stopped making parkas with real fur at the end of 2022. If the coyote ruff on your parka hood is worn, damaged or missing, a new one from Canada Goose is no longer an option. A replacement coyote ruff brings back the look and the warmth of the hood.

Why coyote fur on a hood

Long coyote guard hair breaks the wind around your face and sheds frost and snow better than synthetic trim. That is why it became the classic trim on Canadian winter parkas.

Step 1: Measure your hood

Lay the parka flat and measure along the edge of the hood where the ruff sits, from one side to the other. Our ruffs come in lengths from 60 cm up to about 75 cm.

Step 2: Check how the old ruff attached

  • Snaps: small press studs along the edge of the hood.
  • Zipper: a zipper track sewn around the hood.

We carry both snap and zipper versions, and we have fitted them on Canada Goose parkas.

Step 3: Attach the new ruff

Line up the centre of the ruff with the centre of the hood, then fasten the snaps or close the zipper from one end to the other. If you are not sure about the fit, bring your parka to our store at Promenade Mall in Thornhill and we will match it with you.
